The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
During the replacement or reprogramming of the 6.6L Duramax Diesel Engine ECM, a dealer may encounter programming error codes.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Do not reprogram the ECM unless it has to be replaced.
The 2006 6.6L Diesel Engine ECM is on restriction see PI number PIP3555.
Programming the ECM may cause programming error codes and lock up the ECM.

Repairs for the ECM programming concerns will be installed when TIS2000 is updated over the weekend of 10/1/05.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
