Models:2006 Chevrolet Express, Kodiak, Silverado
2006 GMC Savanna, Sierra, TopKick
Equipped with the 6.6 (RPO - LBZ or LLY) Duramax Diesel Engine


The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

The customer concern may be an intermittent SES light coming on with DTC P0540.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Complete the current SI diagnostics for any symptoms or DTCs found. If the SI diagnostics for P0540 are inconclusive, reprogram the Glow Plug Control Module (GPCM) with the newest TIS2000 software. A new calibration was released on 3/20/06 to address intermittent DTC P0540.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
