For 1990-2009 cars only
  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the rear brake drum if equipped. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement in Drum Brakes.
  3. Remove the rear brake rotor if equipped. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  4. Inspect and replace the park brake shoe and lining if any of the following conditions are found:
  5. • Excessive wear indicated by the park brake lining being worn down to the shoe
    • Brake lining cracking
    • Oil or fluid contamination
  6. Adjust the park brake shoes if necessary. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment .
  7. Install the rear brake drum. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement in Drum Brakes.
  8. Install the rear brake rotor, if equipped. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
