Did you review the Radio/Audio System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn ON the radio.
  3. Insert a tape, CD, or CD magazine with at least 1 audio CD inside, into the remote playback device.
  4. Turn ON the remote playback device.

Does the remote playback device play on the right and left audio channels?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the remote playback device.
  3. Test the appropriate output remote playback device audio signal circuits of the remote playback device for a short, high resistance, or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the remote playback device. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the radio.
  2. Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the Radio. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the remote playback device. Refer to Remote Compact Disc Player Replacement or Remote Tape Player Replacement .
