Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the right wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
  3. Remove the air cleaner layer. Refer to the appropriate procedure:

    •  Air Cleaner Replacement in Engine Controls-8.1L.
    •  Air Cleaner Replacement in Engine Controls-7.8L.

  5. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the low pressure sensor.
  6. Disconnect the electrical connector to the blower motor assembly.
  7. Disconnect the electrical connector to the blower motor resistor assembly.

  9. Remove the evaporator outlet hose retaining nut (5) from the accumulator.

  11. Remove the compressor suction hose retaining nut (2).
  12. Remove the compressor suction hose from the accumulator.

  14. Remove the retaining nuts (3) from the accumulator retaining bracket.
  15. Remove the accumulator (5) from the bracket.
  16. Remove the multi-use module bracket. Refer to the appropriate procedure:

  18. Remove the retaining nut (3) from the evaporator inlet tube (5).
  19. Remove the evaporator inlet tube from the evaporator.
  20. Remove the sealing washer.

  22. Remove the retaining nut (4) from the evaporator outlet tube (3).
  23. Remove the evaporator outlet tube from the evaporator.
  24. Remove the sealing washer.

  26. Remove the screws (2) from the evaporator and blower module assembly.
  27. Remove the evaporator and blower module assembly front cover (3).
  28. Remove the recirculation door actuator (7) and the linkage.
  29. Remove the recirculation door (1) from the evaporator and blower module assembly (6).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 694201  Size: SH
  1. Install the recirculation door (1) to the evaporator and blower module assembly (6).
  2. Install the recirculation door actuator (7) and the linkage.
  3. Install the evaporator and blower module assembly cover (3).
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the screws.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 1.9 N·m (17 lb in).

  7. Install new sealing washers to the evaporator inlet and outlet tubes. Refer to O-Ring Replacement .

  9. Install the evaporator inlet tube (1) to the evaporator.
  10. Install the evaporator inlet tube retaining nut (3).
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  12. Install the evaporator outlet tube to the evaporator.
  13. Install the evaporator outlet tube retaining nut (4).
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  15. Install the multi-use module bracket. Refer to the appropriate procedure:

    •  Multiuse Module Bracket Replacement in Engine Controls-8.1L.
    •  Multiuse Module Bracket Replacement in Engine Controls-7.8L.

  17. Install the accumulator (5) to the bracket.
  18. Install the nuts (3) to the accumulator retaining bracket.
  19. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  20. Install new O-ring seals. Refer to O-Ring Replacement .
  21. Install the evaporator outlet hose.

  23. Install the evaporator outlet hose retaining nut (5) to the accumulator.
  24. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  25. Install the compressor suction hose to the accumulator.

  27. Install the compressor inlet hose retaining nut (2) to the accumulator.
  28. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  29. Connect the electrical connectors to the low pressure sensor.
  30. Connect the electrical connector to the blower motor assembly.
  31. Connect the electrical connector to the blower motor resistor assembly.
  32. Install the air cleaner layer. Refer to the appropriate procedure:

    •  Air Cleaner Replacement in Engine Controls-8.1L.
    •  Air Cleaner Replacement in Engine Controls-7.8L.

  34. Install the right wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
  35. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
