The position of the turbocharger vanes is controlled by the engine control module (ECM). The ECM commands the TC vane position solenoid to change the position of vanes in order to vary boost depending upon the load requirements of the engine. The TC vane position sensor provides the ECM with a signal voltage relative to position of the turbocharger vanes.

Powertrain Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Type Definitions
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the control module. |
⇒ | If less than the specified range, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the control module. |
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the control module. |
⇒ | If more than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the control module. |
