Circuit/System Description

The diesel particulate filter (DPF) differential pressure sensor is established to detect difference in pressure in DPD. The engine control module (ECM) always detects differential. pressure in DPD with DPD differential pressure sensor installed in DPD front and back, and detects quantity of sedimentation of PM.

Conditions for Running the DTC

    • DTCs P0079, P0080, P0102, P0103, P0117, P0118, P0126, P02E7, P02E8, P0409, P0652, P0653, P2032, P2033, P2228, P2229, P2454, and P2455 are not set.
    • The battery voltage is between 10-16 volts.
    • The ignition switch is ON for longer than 2 seconds.
    • The exhaust throttle valve is not active.
    • The EGR valve position is between 95-100 percent.
    • The intake throttle position is between 70-72 percent.
    • The engine speed is between 1200-1250 RPM.
    • The engine coolant temperature is between 70-90°C (158-194°F).
    • The barometric pressure (BARO) is more than 72 kPa.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The ECM detects that the actual DPF differential pressure is less than the desired pressure for longer than 20 seconds.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

DTC P2002 is a Type B DTC.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

DTC P2002 is a Type B DTC.

Diagnostic Aids

Inspect for any recent engine exhaust system mechanical repairs. An incorrectly installed DPF differential pressure sensor will cause this DTC to set.

Circuit/System Verification

Important: If DTC P0079, P0080, P0102, P0103, P0117, P0118, P0126, P02E7, P02E8, P0409, P0652, P0653, P2032, P2033, P2228, P2229, P2454, and P2455 are not set, test and repair those DTCs first.

Verify the integrity of the engine exhaust system by inspecting for the following conditions:

    • Damaged components
    • Loose or improper installation
    • DPF system

Circuit/System Testing

Important: You must perform Circuit/System Verification before proceeding with Circuit/System Testing.

  1. Ignition OFF, inspect the DPF system for exhaust gas leakage.
  2. If detect the exhaust gas leakage for DPF system, repair or replace the DPF system.
    • Exhaust gas temperature sensor
    • DPF differential pressure sensor and pressure hose
    • DPF assembly
  3. Ignition OFF, inspect the DPF filter.
  4. If detect the broken, clogged condition, melt of filter for DPF filter, replace the DPF filter.
  5. Ignition ON for longer than 30 seconds, learning the zero position of DPF differential pressure.
  6. Command the DPF regeneration with a scan tool. Perform the DPF regeneration.
  7. Clean the DPF filter with an Ash Cleaner.
  8. Start the engine and operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records.
  9. If detect the DTC, replace the control module.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.

    •  Exhaust Particulate Filter Replacement
    •  Exhaust Temperature Sensor Replacement - Position 1
    •  Exhaust Pressure Differential Sensor Replacement
    •  Control Module References for engine control module (ECM) replacement, setup, and programming
