Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 384598  Size: SH
  1. Relief the CNG fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  2. Remove the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement .
  3. Remove the high pressure regulator (HPR). Refer to Compressed Natural Gas High Pressure Regulator Replacement .
  4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  5. Remove the tank bracket mounting nuts and the backing plates.

  6. Object Number: 384600  Size: SH
  7. Remove the tank support plate nuts and the support plate.

  8. Object Number: 384604  Size: SH
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Remove the stud plates from the tank bracket.
  11. Remove the upper tank mounting stops.
  12. Remove the tank bracket from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 384605  Size: SH
  1. Clean the mating surfaces.
  2. Apply sealant around all the tank bracket mounting holes.

  3. Object Number: 384604  Size: SH
  4. Install the tank bracket.
  5. Install the upper tank mounting stops to the tank bracket. Tighten the bolts finger-tight.
  6. Install the stud plates. Bend the tabs to secure the plates.

  7. Object Number: 384598  Size: SH
  8. Raise the vehicle.
  9. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  10. Install the backing plates and the nuts.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the backing plate nuts to 12 N·m (108 lb in).

  12. Install the tank support plate and the nuts.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the tank support plate nuts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. Tighten the upper tank mounting stop bolts.
  16. Tighten
    Tighten the upper tank mounting stop bolts to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  17. Install the HPR. Refer to Compressed Natural Gas High Pressure Regulator Replacement .
  18. Install the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement .
