1. All Midgate Control Module functions will be inoperative. 2. The Midgate Power Window will be inoperative. 3. The Midgate Power Window UP function will be inoperative from 1 switch. 4. The Midgate Power Window will operate while the Midgate is open or ajar. |
The midgate power window is controlled by the midgate control module using inputs from the instrument panel (I/P) midgate window switch, global window switch and the midgate ajar switches. The window switch circuits are referenced from ground by the midgate control module and are determined to be active when high. The ajar switch signal circuit is referenced from battery voltage by the module and is determined to be active when low. The ajar switches are in series and when the midgate is opened both switches must close in order to pull the circuit low. The midgate control module also uses inputs from 2 hall effect sensors located on the motor. The hall sensors enable the control module to monitor the window position and motor speed.
If the initialization has not been completed the rear window defog function will not operate and the midgate will unlatch while the glass is in any position. One touch express up and down will be disabled so the window can only be operated in a supervised mode and the anti-pinch feature will not function.
False glass reversal may be due to the system load having changed since the last initialization. The problem may by corrected by performing the de-initialization then an initialization procedure.

Some midgate power window system faults will cause the control module to operate the power window in the Error/Jog mode while driving the window up or down. The system will go into the Error/Jog mode whenever the control module is unable to determine the position of the glass due to memory corruption or hall sensor failures. One of the switches stuck in the UP position can also cause the Error/Jog mode to occur.
⇒ | If the test lamp does not illuminate repair the battery supply circuits for an open/high resistance or short to ground. |
⇒ | If the test lamp does not illuminate repair the accessory supply circuit for an open/high resistance or short to ground. |
⇒ | If the test lamp does not illuminate repair the ground circuits for an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If the circuit is not at battery voltage repair the down switch signal circuit for an open/high resistance or a short to ground. |
Important: Always perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
