Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1453826 Size: SH
  1. Remove the license plate pocket.
  2. Remove the spare tire from the carrier assembly (2).

    3. Object Number: 1486513 Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the rear license plate harness connector behind the rear bumper.
  4. Release the harness grommet from the rear bumper cover.
  5. Open and remove the spare tire carrier from the spare tire carrier mounts.

    6. Object Number: 1453818 Size: SH
  6. Remove the spare tire carrier mounts (2, 3) from the rear bumper bar (4).
  7. Remove the rear bumper. Refer to Rear Bumper Replacement .

    8. Object Number: 1453833 Size: SH
  8. Remove the inner wheelhouse panel (7) lower 2 rear bolts in order to access the bumper end cap bolts.

    9. Object Number: 1453820 Size: SH
  9. Remove the right side filler panel push-in retainers (2) first.
  10. Remove the right side filler panel screws.
  11. Remove the right side filler panel nuts (4) from the outer edge.
  12. Remove the right filler panel from the vehicle.
  13. Remove the left side filler panel push-in retainers (6).
  14. Remove the left side filler panel screws.
  15. Remove the left outer filler panel nuts (7).
  16. Remove the left side filler panel (5) from the outer body panel (1).

Installation Procedure
  1. Position the left side filler panel (5) to the outer body panel (1).

    2. Object Number: 1453820 Size: SH
  2. Install the push-in retainers (6) in order to secure the filler panel (5) to the body panel.
  3. Install the left side outer panel nuts.

    4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Install the nuts (7).

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 10 N路m (89 lb in).

  5. Position the right side filler panel (3) to the outer body panel (1).
  6. Install the push-in retainers (2) to the outer body panel (1).
  7. Install the right side filler panel screws.
  8. Install the nuts (4).

    9. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 10 N路m (89 lb in).

  9. Install the inner wheelhouse panel lower bolts.

    10. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N路m (89 lb in).

  10. Install the rear bumper. Refer to Rear Bumper Replacement .

    11. Object Number: 1453818 Size: SH
  11. Install the spare tire carrier mounts (2, 3).

    12. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 85 N路m (63 lb ft).

  12. Install the rear tire carrier to the mounts. Secure the bolt.

    13. Object Number: 1486512 Size: SH
  13. Connect the rear license plate harness connector.
  14. Secure the harness grommet to the rear bumper.
  15. Install the spare tire to the carrier frame.

    16. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 70 N路m (52 lb ft).


    Object Number: 1453826 Size: SH
  16. Install the license plate pocket (3). Refer to Rear License Plate Pocket Replacement .
  17. Latch and secure the rear spare tire carrier.
