Trailer Hitch Replacement SUV
Removal Procedure
- Remove the bumper. Refer to
Rear Bumper Replacement
.
- Remove any electrical or air suspension components from the hitch.
- Remove the hitch bolts from the frame.
- Remove the hitch from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the hitch to the vehicle.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the hitch bolts to the frame.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 100 N·m (74 lb ft).
- Install the electrical or air suspension components to the hitch.
- Install the bumper. Refer to

Trailer Hitch Replacement SUT
Removal Procedure
- Remove the rear bumper. Refer to
Rear Bumper Replacement
.
- Remove the bolts (4) from the trailer hitch to frame (5).
- Remove the 2 bolts (1) from the rear edge of the air suspension compressor bracket (2).
- Disconnect the electrical harness conduit from the inside of the trailer hitch.
- With the aid of an assistant, remove the trailer hitch from the frame rail.
Installation Procedure
- Position the trailer hitch to the rear frame rail.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the 2 forward bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 85 N·m (63 lb ft).
- Install the 2 bolts (1) to the rear edge of the air suspension compressor bracket (2).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 85 N·m (63 lb ft).
- Secure the electrical harness conduit to the inner surface of the trailer hitch.
- Install the rear bumper. Refer to
Rear Bumper Replacement
.
