Preliminary Procedures

1. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement.
2. Remove the ignition lock cylinder case. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Case Replacement.
3. Remove the steering column tilt spring. Refer to Steering Column Tilt Spring Replacement.

Steering Column Pivot Pin (Qty: 2)

Procedure

1. Use the J 21854-01 remover to remove the steering column pivot pins.
2. Before installing, apply lubricant to the steering column pivot pins. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers for the recommended lubricant.
3. Once installed, stake the steering column in 3 locations around each steering column pivot pin.

Steering Column Tilt Head

Tip
Do not allow any debris into the steering column tilt head.

Steering Shaft Upper Bearing (Qty: 2)

Tip
The steering shaft upper bearings are press fit.
