Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1795331  Size: SH
  1. Rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner clockwise to reduce the belt tension.
  2. While holding the tensioner in the reduced tension position, disconnect the belt.

  3. Object Number: 1795660  Size: SH
  4. Remove the starter. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement.
  5. Install EN-46106 tool  (1) into the starter motor opening to stop the crankshaft from rotating.

  6. Object Number: 1795662  Size: SH
  7. Remove the bolt (1) attaching the crankshaft pulley assembly (2) to the crankshaft.

  8. Object Number: 1795664  Size: SH
  9. Remove the crankshaft pulley assembly (1) from the crankshaft using three legged puller, J-41816 puller  (2) or equivalent.

Cleaning and Inspection

  1. Using a suitable non-corrosive cleaning solvent and a soft bristled parts cleaning brush, clean the crankshaft pulley assembly.
  2. Dry the crankshaft pulley assembly using compressed air.
  3. Inspect the crankshaft pulley assembly for the following fault conditions:
  4. • Hub to crankshaft inner surface for wear or damage
    • Sealing surface for wear, grooving or scoring
    • Rubber ring between the hub and the pulley for wear, chunking and general deterioration
    • Drive belt ribs of the pulley for damage

Installation Procedure

  1. Lubricate the crankshaft pulley assembly hub bore.
  2. Partially install the crankshaft pulley assembly onto the crankshaft.

  3. Object Number: 1795674  Size: SH

    Note: To prevent damage to the crankshaft threads, fully install J-41998-B installer  (1) into the crankshaft before pressing the pulley and balancer assembly.

  4. Using the crankshaft pulley installer, J-41998-B installer  (1), fully install the crankshaft pulley assembly into the crankshaft.

  5. Object Number: 1795662  Size: SH
  6. Apply LOCTITE™ 272 or equivalent to the thread of a new crankshaft pulley assembly retaining bolt (1).
  7. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  8. Install the crankshaft pulley assembly retaining bolt and tighten to 100 N·m (74 lb ft) and turns the bolt another 150 degrees using the KM-470-B gage .
  9. Install the starter. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement.
  10. Install the accessory drive belt.
