Removal Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling and SIR Disabling and Enabling in SIR.
  2. Remove the left closeout/insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side .
  3. Remove the knee bolster trim panel. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Panel Replacement .
  4. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .

  5. Object Number: 735934  Size: SH
  6. Remove the left HVAC push pin (2).
  7. Remove the left HVAC floor duct (1).
  8. Fully lower the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
  9. Remove the center console. Refer to Console Replacement .
  10. Remove the IP lower sound insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement .
  11. Remove the IP accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement .
  12. Remove the IP cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  13. Remove the right closeout/insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side .
  14. Remove the IP storage compartment door. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Door Replacement .
  15. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
  16. Remove the HVAC control module. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement in HVAC Systems with A/C-Manual.

  18. Remove the HVAC control module wire harness attachment (1) from the IP substrate.

  19. Object Number: 796605  Size: SH
  20. Remove the left IP access cover.
  21. Remove the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  22. If replacing the IP, remove the headlamp switch bezel. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement - Left Side .
  23. Remove the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.
  24. Remove the trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement .
  25. Remove the front upper speakers, if equipped. Refer to Front Upper Speaker Replacement in Entertainment.

  27. Remove the right IP access cover.

  29. Remove the side window defogger outlet screw.

  30. Object Number: 713401  Size: SH
  31. Remove the bolts securing the lower portion of the instrument panel to the vehicle.

  32. Object Number: 713403  Size: SH
  33. Remove the bolts that secure the middle and upper portion of the instrument panel to the vehicle.
  34. With the aid of an assistant, lift up from the bottom of the instrument panel in order to release the IP from the positioning locators.
  35. Remove the instrument panel from the vehicle.
  36. Place the IP on a clean prepared surface.
  37. If replacing the IP, remove the passenger inflatable restraint IP module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement in SIR.
  38. If replacing the IP, remove the air distribution duct vents from the instrument panel. Refer to Air Distributor Duct Replacement in HVAC.

Installation Procedure

  1. If replacing the IP, install the air distribution duct vents to the instrument panel. Refer to Air Distributor Duct Replacement in HVAC.
  2. If replacing the IP, install the passenger inflatable restraint module to the instrument panel. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement in SIR.
  3. With the aid of an assistant, install the instrument panel to the vehicle.
  4. Important: Ensure the wiring harnesses and electrical connectors are not pinched behind the instrument panel and are positioned for proper connection.

  5. Fully seat the instrument panel to the positioning locators.

    Important: Do not tighten the IP retaining bolts until all of the bolts have been loosely installed.

  7. Install the bolts securing the middle and upper portion of the instrument panel to the vehicle.

  8. Object Number: 713401  Size: SH
  9. Install the bolts that secure the lower portion of the instrument panel to the vehicle.
  10. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  11. Complete the installation of all of the bolts that retain the IP to the vehicle.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  13. Install the side window defogger outlet screw.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the defogger outlet screw to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).

  15. Install the right IP access cover.
  16. Install the front upper speakers, if equipped. Refer to Front Upper Speaker Replacement in Entertainment.
  17. Install the trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement .
  18. Install the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.
  19. If replacing the IP, Install the headlamp switch bezel. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement - Left Side .
  20. Install the headlamp switch to the bezel. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement in Lighting Systems.

  22. Install the left IP access cover.

  24. Install the HVAC control module wire harness attachment to the IP substrate.
  25. Install the HVAC control module. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement in HVAC Systems-Manual.
  26. Install the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
  27. Install the IP cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  28. Install the IP accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement .
  29. Install the IP lower sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement .
  30. Install the center console. Refer to Console Replacement .
  31. Install the IP compartment door. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Door Replacement .
  32. Install the right closeout/insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side .
  33. Install the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.

  35. Install the left HAVC floor duct (1).
  36. Install the left HVAC floor duct push pin (2).
  37. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
  38. Install the knee bolster trim panel. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Panel Replacement .
  39. Install the left closeout/insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side .
  40. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling and SIR Disabling and Enabling in SIR.
