Verify that the power roof is inoperative.

Does the power roof operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Does the endgate window operate normally?

Go to Step 4

Is the power roof inoperative from both the overhead console switch and the endgate key cylinder switch?

Go to Step 6

Is the power roof inoperative from the overhead console switch only?

Go to Step 7

  1. Open the endgate window.
  2. Using a scan tool, attempt to open and close the power roof. Refer to Scan Tool Output Controls .

Does the power roof open and close using the scan tool commands?

Go to Step 9

  1. Observe the Power Roof Switch parameter in the Power Roof Module Input/Output data list.
  2. Operate the overhead console power roof switch in the open and close positions.

Does the scan tool display the correct switch parameter in relation to the actual switch state?

  1. Observe the Endgate Key Cylinder parameter in the Endgate Module Input/Output data list.
  2. Operate the endgate key cylinder in both directions.

At any time does the scan tool display the switch parameter as Invalid?

  1. Disconnect the power roof module (PRM) connector C1.
  2. Test for continuity through the overhead console power roof switch from the low reference circuit terminal to the open and close circuit terminals in the harness connector.
  3. Operate the power roof switch in the open and close positions while testing the corresponding circuit.

Does the power roof switch have continuity in both positions?

  1. Disconnect the endgate module connector C2.
  2. Test for continuity through the endgate key cylinder switch from the low reference circuit terminal to the up and down circuit terminals in the harness connector.
  3. Operate the key cylinder switch in the up and down positions while testing the corresponding circuit.

Does the endgate key cylinder switch have continuity in both positions?

Go to Step 20

  1. Disconnect the power roof motor connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the power roof motor open and close control circuit terminals in the harness connector.
  3. Operate the power roof switch to the Open and Close positions.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test the power roof motor control circuits for an open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the overhead console power roof switch signal circuits for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  2. Perform the power roof calibration procedure. Refer to Roof Moveable Panel Control Module Calibration .
