Rear Window Wiper Arm Replacement XUV
Removal Procedure
- Disengage the wiper arm cover (1)
by lifting outward at the location (2) at the underside of the wiper arm cover.
- Remove the nut (4) retaining the
wiper arm to the motor shaft.
- Remove the wiper arm from the wiper motor pivot shaft (5).
- Disconnect the rear washer hose (6).
- Clean the wiper arm pivot shaft knurls with a soft wire brush.
- Remove the wiper arm blade (1) from
the wiper arm (2), if necessary. Refer to

Installation Procedure
- Install the wiper arm blade (3) to
the wiper arm (1), if removed. Refer to
Rear Window Wiper Blade Replacement
.
- Turn the ignition to the RUN position, engine OFF.
- Turn the wiper switch to position 3, full speed.
- Locate and remove the rear wiper fuse, fuse number 9, located under the
LH rear seat.
- Turn the wiper switch to the OFF position.
- Reinstall the fuse in the fuse block number 9 position.
- Turn the ignition to the LOCK position.
- Install the washer hose end fitting and position the washer hose clockwise
around the pivot shaft and connect to the elbow.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the rear wiper arm. Align the park finger of the arm into the park pocket
in applique.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 6-10 N·m (55-89 lb in).
- Secure the wiper arm nut cover.
- Turn the vehicle to the RUN position, engine OFF.
Important: Do not turn on or cycle the rear wiper after
step 7 or until the wiper arm nut is fully torqued. If vehicle is turned on,
start over at step 2.
- Cycle the rear wiper and verify the park location of the wiper arm into the
applique park pocket.
- Inspect the operation of the endgate window.

Removal Procedure
- Place the arm in the mid-wipe position on the rear glass.
- Disconnect the washer hose (4).
- Remove the wiper arm cover (2).
- Disengage the nut (3) retaining the wiper arm to the pivot shaft.
- Remove the wiper arm from the pivot shaft.
- Remove the wiper arm blade from the wiper arm, if necessary. Refer to

Installation Procedure
- Park the rear wiper motor.
- Install the wiper arm blade to the wiper arm, if removed. Refer to
Rear Window Wiper Blade Replacement
.
- Position the wiper arm into the park ramp.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the wiper arm onto the motor shaft with the nut (3). Hold the wiper arm into the park ramp while torquing the nut.
Tighten
Tighten the nut (3) to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Reposition the wiper arm cover (2).
- Connect the washer hose (4).
