Tools Required

    • J 38364 Steering Column Lock Plate Compressor
    • J 42137 Steering Column Lock Plate Compressor Adapter

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the ignition lock cylinder case. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Case Replacement .

    2. Object Number: 1650890 Size: SH
  2. Remove and discard the steering shaft lock plate retaining ring using compressor J 38364 and adapter J 42137 .

    3. Object Number: 1492301 Size: SH
  3. Remove the following parts from the steering column:
    4. 3.1. The steering shaft upper bearing retainer
    3.2. The steering shaft upper bearing spring
    3.3. The steering shaft upper bearing

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1492301 Size: SH
  1. Install the following parts onto the steering shaft assembly:
    2. 1.1. The steering shaft upper bearing
    1.2. The steering shaft upper bearing spring
    1.3. The steering shaft upper bearing retainer

    Object Number: 1650890 Size: SH
  2. Install the new steering shaft lock plate retaining ring using compressor J 38364 and adapter J 42137 .

    3. Ensure the steering shaft lock plate retaining ring is seated correctly on the steering shaft.

  3. Install the ignition lock cylinder case. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Case Replacement .
