Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the fan shroud. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement .
  2. Remove the charge air cooler. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Replacement .
  3. Before you remove the automatic transmission oil cooler lines, provide a container to catch the oil that is drained from the automatic transmission oil cooler and the lines. Do not reuse the drained fluid.
  4. Important: Install a new set of insulators when you replace a radiator. Used insulators may be worn out or too large for the new radiator. These conditions may cause the radiator to be loose.

  5. Position a container to catch the oil that is drained from the automatic transmission cooler and the lines.
  6. Disconnect the transmission oil cooler lines.

  8. Remove the radiator outlet hose clamp.
  9. Remove the radiator outlet hose from the radiator.

  11. Remove the right side radiator support bolt (1).
  12. Remove the left side radiator support bolt.
  13. Remove the remaining radiator support bolts.
  14. Remove the radiator and the support from the vehicle.

  16. Remove the radiator (1) from the support.
  17. Remove the radiator insulators.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the radiator insulators.

  2. Object Number: 209210  Size: SH
  3. Install the radiator (1) into the support.
  4. Install the radiator and support into the vehicle.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the radiator support top bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  8. Install the right side radiator support frame bolt (1).
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

  10. Install the left side radiator support frame bolt.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

  12. Install the remaining radiator support bolts.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  14. Install the automatic transmission oil cooler lines.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the fittings to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  16. Install the radiator outlet hose.
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the clamp (1) to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  18. Connect the coolant recovery hose (1) to the radiator.
  19. Tighten
    Tighten the clamp to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

  20. Install the fan shroud. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement .
  21. Install the charge air cooler. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Replacement .
  22. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  23. Fill the automatic transmission to the proper capacity, if equipped. Use new, clean fluid. Refer to Approximate Fluid Capacities .
  24. Inspect the system for leaks.
  25. Lower the cab. Refer to Cab Tilting .
