J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

1. Remove the evaporator. Refer to Air Conditioning Evaporator Core Replacement .



2. Remove insulation pad from the capillary tube bulb and clamp.
3. Remove the screw and the clamp.
4. Remove the thermal expansion valve from the low pressure fitting.
5. Remove the thermal expansion valve O-ring seal from the low pressure fitting.
6. Remove the thermal expansion valve from the evaporator core.
7. Remove the high pressure elbow from the thermal expansion valve.
8. Remove the high pressure line elbow O-ring seal from the elbow.
9. Remove the thermal expansion valve O-ring seal from the evaporator core.

1. Install the new O-rings. Refer to O-Ring Replacement .

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.




2. Install the thermal expansion valve to the evaporator core.

Tighten
Tighten the fitting to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

3. Install the high pressure line elbow to the thermal expansion valve.

Tighten
Tighten the fitting to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

4. Install the thermal expansion valve to the low pressure hose fitting.

Tighten
Tighten the fitting to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

5. Install the screw and the clamp to the capillary tube bulb and low pressure line.
6. Install the insulation pad over the capillary tube bulb and clamp.
7. Install the evaporator. Refer to Air Conditioning Evaporator Core Replacement .
