Removal Procedure
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.

    2. Object Number: 214649 Size: SH
  2. Remove the instrument cluster trim. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

    3. Object Number: 215553 Size: SH
  3. Remove the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  4. Disconnect the instrument cluster electrical connector.

    5. Object Number: 215557 Size: SH
  5. Remove the speedometer. Refer to Speedometer Replacement .
  6. Disconnect the speedometer electrical connector.
  7. Remove the trim surrounding the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.

    8. Object Number: 214665 Size: SH
  8. Remove the right and left lower assist handles and the lower assist handle trim.

    9. Object Number: 214669 Size: SH
  9. Remove the right side lower instrument panel trim.
  10. Carefully pry up the defroster grilles and remove them.

    11. Object Number: 214660 Size: SH
  11. Remove the upper instrument panel retaining bolts.
  12. Remove the instrument panel upper trim.

    13. Object Number: 214662 Size: SH
  13. Remove the center relay housing.
  14. Remove the hood release cable handle.
  15. Disconnect the instrument panel wiring harness.
  16. Remove the instrument panel support.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the instrument panel support with the screws.

    2. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  2. Connect the instrument panel wiring harness.
  3. Install the hood release cable handle.

  4. Install the center relay housing.

    5. Object Number: 214660 Size: SH
  5. Install the instrument panel upper trim.
  6. Install the upper instrument panel retaining bolts.
  7. Install the defroster grilles.

    8. Object Number: 214669 Size: SH
  8. Install the right side lower instrument panel trim.

    9. Object Number: 214665 Size: SH
  9. Install the right and left lower assist handles and the lower assist handle trim with the appropriate bolts.

    10. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  10. Connect the radio and climate control assembly electrical connector.
  11. Install the trim surrounding the radio.
  12. Connect the speedometer electrical connector. Refer to Speedometer Replacement .

  13. Install the speedometer. Refer to Speedometer Replacement .
  14. Connect the instrument cluster electrical connector.

    15. Object Number: 215553 Size: SH
  15. Install the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

    16. Object Number: 214649 Size: SH
  16. Install the instrument cluster trim.
  17. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
