Conditions for Setting the DTC

The electrically erasable programmable read only memory (EEPROM) data is not written.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

    • The engine control module (ECM) will illuminate the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) the first time the fault is detected.
    • Fuel rate data Number 8 is selected.

Conditions for Clearing the MIL/DTC

DTC 0034 can be cleared by using the Clear Info on the scan tool or by using the Diag Clear Switch.

Does DTC 0034 display when the ignition is ON?

Go to Step 2

Assume that fuel rate data may not be written to the ECM after replacing the ECM assembly.

Did you write the Fuel Rate data?

Go to Step 4

Write fuel rate data to ECM use scan tool.

Does DTC 0034 display after writing the fuel rate data?

Go to Step 2

Important: 

   • When the engine control module (ECM) is replaced, the scan tool is required.
   • Make sure that the lamp is illuminated when DTC 0034 is set.
   • When the ECM is replaced, retrieve the fuel rate number from the old ECM, and then input the fuel rate number into the new ECM with the scan tool.
   • If Step 2 and/or 4 appear to be intermittent, call the Tech Line staff.

Replace the ECM. Refer to Engine Control Module Replacement/Restore Fuel Rate Data
