Important:
• Inspect the valve rocker arm and ball surfaces for excessive wear
and burrs. Replace if needed. • Make sure to keep parts in order. Parts must be put back from
where they were removed.
Important:
• Check the pushrod for straightness. Roll the pushrod on a flat
surface to determine if the pushrod is bent. Replace if necessary. • Inspect the pushrods for excessive wear. Replace if necessary.
Important: When you install new rocker arms and new rocker arm balls, coat the mating surface with camshaft assembly lubricant or equivalent.
Important: Make sure that the pushrod is seated properly in the valve lifter and the rocker arm to avoid possible engine damage.
Important: Do not over tighten the rocker arm nuts
Tighten
Tighten the rocker arm nuts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
