When Ignition 1 voltage is first applied to the supplemental restraint Diagnostic Energy Reserve Module (DERM), it performs Turn On test followed by Continuous Monitoring test for one second. The DERM monitors the Driver Side Low terminal B8 ensuring that voltage is applied to the inflator module. The DERM monitors Driver Source Sense terminal A5 to ensuring that Driver 36 VLR is supplying voltage to the deployment loop.
When grounding terminal B7 grounds Driver Side Low or voltage is measured at terminal A6, DTC B1055 is set.
The conditions described indicate a DERM has been installed in the vehicle. This test runs once each ignition cycle during the initiator assembly resistance test when:
• | No higher priority faults are detected during the Turn On test |
• | No higher priority faults are detected during Continuous Monitoring tests for one second |
• | No Crank signal is present |
• | Ignition 1 voltage is above a specified value |
The DERM turns on the AIR BAG warning lamp and sets a diagnostic trouble code.
The ignition switch is turned OFF.
When measurements are requested in this table, useJ 39200 Digital Multimeter with correct terminal adapter from J 35616 Connector Test Adapter Kit. When a check for proper connection is requested, refer to Intermittents and Poor Connections in Section 8A4. When a wire, connector or terminal repair is requested, use J-38125 Terminal Repair Kit and refer to Wiring Repair.
