Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the Instrument panel accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  2. Remove the control assembly retaining screws.

  3. Object Number: 281495  Size: SH
  4. Depress the control assembly retaining tabs and remove the control assembly from the instrument panel.

  5. Object Number: 281492  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the vacuum harness connectors (1) from the control assembly.

  7. Object Number: 281491  Size: SH
  8. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the control assembly.

Installation Procedure

  1. Connect the electrical connectors to the control assembly.

  2. Object Number: 281492  Size: SH
  3. Connect the vacuum harness connectors (1) to the control assembly.

  4. Object Number: 281495  Size: SH
  5. Install the control assembly to the instrument panel. Ensure that all 4 retaining tabs lock into place.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the control assembly retaining screws.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 1.9 N·m (17 lb in).

  9. Install the instrument panel accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  10. Perform a heater function test. Refer to Function Test .
