Makes 🢒 Oldsmobile 🢒 1998 🢒 Achieva 🢒 Restraints 🢒 SIR 🢒 Steering Wheel Inflatable Restraint Module Coil Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System .
  2. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil yellow 2-way connector at the base of the steering column.
  3. Disconnect the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil yellow 2-way connector.

    4. Object Number: 371173 Size: SH
  4. Remove the upper and lower steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt.
  5. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Steering Wheel Inflator Module Replacement .
  6. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt.
  7. Remove the wire harness straps from the steering wheel column wire harness.
  8. Remove the retaining ring.

  9. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil from the steering shaft.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 371179 Size: SH
  1. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil to the steering shaft.
  2. Install the retaining ring.

    3. Object Number: 371173 Size: SH
  3. Route the lower coil wire harness along steering column jacket.
  4. Install the wire harness straps to the steering wheel column wire harness.
  5. Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt.
  6. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement .
  7. Install the upper and lower steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt.
  8. Connect the inflatable restraint steering wheel module yellow 2-way connector at the base of the steering column.
  9. Install the CPA to the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil yellow 2-way connector.
  10. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System .
