Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tires and wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.

  3. Object Number: 385558  Size: SH
  4. Scribe the position of the strut to the knuckle.

  5. Object Number: 305363  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the ABS electrical connector from the wheel speed sensor (1).

  7. Object Number: 614976  Size: SH
  8. Disconnect the rear wheel spindle rods from the knuckle (2).
  9. Disconnect the trailing arm (3) from the knuckle.
  10. Remove the brake caliper and bracket. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  11. Remove the brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  12. Remove the rear wheel hub. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement .
  13. Remove the rear suspension strut to knuckle bolts (1).
  14. Remove the rear suspension knuckle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 614976  Size: SH
  1. Install the rear suspension knuckle.
  2. Hand start the rear suspension strut to knuckle bolts (1). Do not tighten the nuts at this time.
  3. Connect the rear wheel spindle rods to the knuckle. Refer to Spindle Rod Replacement .
  4. Connect the rear suspension trailing arm (1) to the knuckle. Refer to Trailing Arm Replacement .
  5. Install the rear wheel hub. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement .

  6. Object Number: 614977  Size: SH
  7. Install the rear wheel hub and park brake assembly.

  8. Object Number: 305363  Size: SH
  9. Connect the ABS electrical connector to the wheel speed sensor (1).
  10. Install the brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  11. Install the brake caliper and bracket. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  12. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  13. Now tighten the strut to knuckle nuts.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the strut to knuckle nuts to 112 N·m (82 lb ft).

  15. Install the tires and wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  16. Lower the vehicle.
  17. Check the wheel alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement in Wheel Alignment.
