1. Install the scan tool.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
3. Select the Display DTC function on the scan tool.
4. Inspect for any stored ABS DTCs related to the brake warning indicator operation.

No DTCs are stored as current or history.

Diagnostic Starting Point in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console

1. Turn ignition to the OFF position.
2. Remove the scan tool from the data link connector (DLC).
3. Release the parking brake.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, with the engine OFF.

The brake warning indicator turns ON for approximately 3 seconds, then turns off.

1. Start the vehicle and allow the engine to idle in PARK.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

The brake warning indicator remains OFF when the ignition switch is in the START position.

1. Return the ignition switch to the ON position.
2. Set the parking brake.
3. Release the parking brake.

The brake warning indicator remains ON only when the parking brake is set.
