Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement .
  3. Remove the body control module. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Controls.
  4. Remove the DRL module. Refer to Daytime Running Lights (DRL) Control Module Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  5. Remove the EBTCM module. Refer to Electronic Brake and Traction Control Module Replacement in Antilock Brake System.
  6. Remove the extension ducts. Refer to Extended Console Air Outlet Duct Replacement in HVAC Systems with A/C -- Manual.
  7. Remove the center air outlet. Refer to Center Air Outlet Replacement in HVAC Systems with A/C -- Manual.
  8. Remove the defroster duct. Refer to Defroster Air Outlet Duct Replacement in HVAC Systems with A/C -- Manual.
  9. Remove the steering column support bracket retaining bolts/screws.
  10. Remove the steering column support bracket from the cross car beam.

  12. Remove the bolts/screws from the cross car beam to the body.
  13. Re-route the wiring harness from the cross car beam.
  14. Remove the A/C module. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement in HVAC Systems with A/C -- Manual.
  15. Remove the cross car beam from the body.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 318219  Size: SH
  1. Position the cross car beam to the body.
  2. Install the A/C module. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement in HVAC Systems with A/C -- Manual.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the bolts/screws to the cross car beam to body.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts/screws to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  6. Install the wiring harness to the cross car beam.
  7. Install the steering column support bracket to the cross car beam.
  8. Install the steering column support bracket retaining bolts/screws.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the retaining bolts/screws to 25 N·m ( 18 lb ft).

  10. Install the defroster duct. Refer to Defroster Air Outlet Duct Replacement in HVAC Systems with A/C -- Manual.
  11. Install the center air outlet. Refer to Center Air Outlet Replacement in HVAC Systems with A/C -- Manual.
  12. Install the extension ducts. Refer to Extended Console Air Outlet Duct Replacement in HVAC Systems with A/C -- Manual.
  13. Install the EBTCM module. Refer to Electronic Brake and Traction Control Module Replacement in Antilock Brake System.
  14. Install the DRL module. Refer to Daytime Running Lights (DRL) Control Module Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  15. Install the body control module. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Controls.
  16. Install the instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement .
  17. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
