Preliminary Procedure

  1. Remove the engine shield. Refer to Engine Shield Replacement
  2. Remove the engine oil and oil filter. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
  3. Remove the resonator (2.0L Diesel). Refer to Resonator Replacement
  4. Remove the intermediate shaft. Refer to Intermediate Shaft Replacement

Catalytic Converter Fasteners (Qty: 2)

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Procedure

Release the 2 catalytic converter to oil pan fasteners.

Tighten
23 N·m(17 lb ft)

Front Transmission Fastener

Procedure

Release the transmission bell housing to oil pan fastener.

Tighten
40 N·m(29 lb ft)

Oil Separator Pipe

Procedure

  1. Remove the starter. Refer to Starter Removal.
  2. Release the oil separator pipe to oil pan fastener.
  3. Remove the oil separator pipe from the oil pan.

Tighten
25 N·m(18 lb ft)

Rear Transmission to Oil Pan Fastener

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Procedure

Release the transmission bell housing to oil pan fastener.

Tighten
40 N·m(29 lb ft)

Oil Pan Fastener (Qty: 14)

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Procedure

  1. Remove the oil level sensor connector.
  2. Turn the engine to reach the left fasteners through the opening in the flywheel.

Tighten

    •  M 10 bolts to 40 N·m(29 lb ft)
    •  M 8 bolts to 25 N·m(18 lb ft)
    • M 6 bolt to 9 N·m(80 lb in)

Oil Pan

Procedure

  1. Release the oil level sensor spring retainer.
  2. Remove the oil level sensor.
