Transmission Replacement Front Wheel Drive

Component Name

Preliminary Procedure

  1. Remove the left drive shafts. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Left Side.
  2. Remove the intermediate shaft. Refer to Intermediate Shaft Replacement.
  3. Remove the subframe. Refer to Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Front Crossmember Replacement.
  4. Remove the starter motor. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement.
  5. Remove the control module connector and perform the adaption part. Refer to Transmission Control Module Replacement.
  6. Remove the selector lever cable. Refer to Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement
  7. Remove the particulate filter. Refer to Exhaust Particulate Filter Replacement.
  8. Remove the oil cooler pipes. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Seal Replacement.
  9. Unbolt the driver plate. Refer to Torque Converter Replacement.

Transmission Fasteners (Qty: 6)

Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Caution in the Preface section.

Procedure

  1. Install EN-47649 engine bridge and EN-47650 retainer frame to support and adjust the engine height when removing the transmission.
  2. Remove the left engine support to transmission fasteners. Refer to Transmission Mount Replacement - Left Side.
  3. Use tool X converter holder .

Tighten

    • M10 - 40 N·m (30 lb ft)
    • M12 - 60 N·m (44 lb ft)

Special Tools

    • EN-47649 Engine Bridge
    • EN-47650 Retainer Frame
    • X Converter Holder

Transmission Dowel (Qty: 2)

Transmission

Procedure

  1. Secure the transmission with DT-46648 holder for Single-column lift on to a column jack. Use bolts that are about 20 mm longer than the bolts that were removed.
  2. Fill the transmission with fluid. Refer to Transmission Fluid Check.

Transmission Replacement All Wheel Drive

Preliminary Procedure

  1. Remove the left drive shafts. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Left Side.
  2. Remove the transfer case assembly. Refer to LINK.
  3. Remove the subframe. Refer to Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Front Crossmember Replacement.
  4. Remove the starter motor. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement.
  5. Remove the coolant pipe from the thermostat housing and keep it away with a strap. Refer to Engine Coolant Thermostat Replacement.
  6. Remove the control module connector and perform the adaption part. Refer to Transmission Control Module Replacement.
  7. Remove the selector lever cable. Refer to Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement
  8. Remove the catalytic converter heatshields. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement.
  9. Remove the oil cooler pipes. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Seal Replacement.
  10. Unbolt the driver plate. Refer to Torque Converter Replacement.

Procedure

  1. Install EN-47649 engine bridge and EN-47650 retainer frame to support and adjust the engine height when removing the transmission.
  2. Remove the left engine support to transmission fasteners. Refer to Transmission Mount Replacement - Left Side.
  3. Use tool X converter holder .

Tighten

    • M10: 40 N·m (30 lb ft)
    • M12: 60 N·m (44 lb ft)
