Inspect the park brake actuator levers at the end of the left rear and right rear park brake cables.

Are both of the park brake actuator levers in their full release positions?

Adjust the applicable brake linings and ensure that the park brake actuators operate freely.

    • For domestic vehicles, refer to Drum Brake Adjustment in Drum Brakes.
    • For export vehicles, refer to Parking Brake Shoe Adjustment .

Inspect the park brake cables for binding. Replace as necessary.

  1. Release the park brake.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
  3. Important: Slight brake lining drag is considered normal.

  4. Use your hands in order to rotate the rear wheels.

Do the rear wheels rotate freely?
