| Use the following steps in order to determine the BCM type:
- Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
- Remove the BCM PRGRM fuse in the fuse block.
- Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position.

• | The seat belt indicator flashes. |
• | The chime sounds 4 times. |
These actions indicate that the body control module (BCM) type 4
is installed in the vehicle.
|
• | The seat belt indicator does not flash. |
• | The chime does not sound 4 times. |
This indicates that the vehicle is not equipped with content theft deterrent
(RPO UA6), or the vehicle has an incorrect BCM installed. Go to

| Use the following steps in order to set the feature customization mode
that will enable the content theft deterrent system:
- Verify that the BCM PRGRM fuse is removed and that the ignition
switch is in the ACC position.
- Use the following steps in order to set the content theft deterrent/shock
sensor control to mode 4:
2.1. | Turn the headlamp switch from the OFF position to PARK position,
and back to the OFF position. |
This action advances the mode number.
2.2. | The seat belt indicator flashes and the chime sounds a number
of times that is equal to the current customization mode number. |
- Use the following steps in order to set the theft deterrent arm/disarm
control to mode 3:
3.1. | Insert the second key in the left front, the right front, or the
liftgate door lock cylinder. |
3.2. | Rotate the key from the center position to the UNLOCK position. |
3.3. | Press the horn button on the remote keyless entry transmitter. |
3.4. | Count the number of chimes that you hear. The number of chimes
tells you which mode you have set. |
3.5. | Press the horn button again in order to change the mode. Continue
to press the button until you hear the number of chimes that indicates the
mode that you want. |
3.6. | Remove the key from the door key cylinder. |
- Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
- Reinstall the BCM PRGRM fuse.
|
- The seat belt indicator flashes 4 times.
The chime sounds 4 times.
These actions indicate that the content theft deterrent/shock sensor
control mode 4 is set.
- The seat belt indicator flashes 3 times.
The chime sounds 3 times.
This indicates that the theft deterrent arm/disarm control mode 3
is set.

| Arm the system (1 of 2):
- Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
- Remove the key from the ignition lock cylinder.
- Open the driver door and press LOCK on either power door lock
switch.
- Close all of the doors and the liftgate.

• | The security indicator lamp flashes while the driver door is open. |
• | The security indicator lamp turns on steadily when the following
conditions exist: |
- | All of the doors are closed. |
- | The content theft deterrent system enters the arming mode. |
• | The security indicator lamp flashes continuously at a slow rate
when the content theft deterrent system is armed. |

| Arm the system (2 of 2):
- Press UNLOCK on the keyless entry transmitter.
- Press LOCK on the keyless entry transmitter.
| The lamp flashes continuously at a slow rate when the content theft
deterrent system is armed.

| Disarm the system (1 of 2):
- Use the key in the key lock cylinder in order to unlock the left
front, the right front, or the liftgate door.
- Open the driver door.

- Close all of the doors.
- Press LOCK on the keyless entry transmitter.
- Wait for 10 seconds.

| Set off the alarm (1 of 3):
- Lower the left front and right front door windows.
- Remove the key from the ignition key lock cylinder.
- Close all of the doors.
- Press LOCK on the keyless entry transmitter.
- Reach through the driver window opening. Unlock the door manually.
- Open the driver door.
- Stop the alarm by pressing UNLOCK on the keyless entry transmitter.

- Reach through any passenger window opening.
- Unlock the door manually.
- Open the unlocked door.

- Close all of the doors.
- Press LOCK on the keyless entry transmitter.
- Reach through the driver window opening.
- Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
- Stop the alarm by pressing UNLOCK on the keyless entry transmitter.

turn the ignition switch to the RUN position. |
• | During the alarm mode, the content theft deterrent system alternates
between the exterior lights flashing and sounds the horn for 2 minutes. |

| Set off the warning mode:
- Close all of the doors.
- Press LOCK on the keyless entry transmitter.
- Wait for 10 seconds.
- Simulate a small vehicle impact. Choose an area of the vehicle
such as the bumpers in order to avoid body damage.

• | The content theft deterrent system alternates between 5 exterior
lights flashing and sounds the horn. This is dependent on the sensitivity
level of the shock sensor and the magnitude of the impact to the vehicle. |
• | The security indicator lamp turns on. |
