Did you perform the Lighting Systems Diagnostic System Check?

Important:: The sunload sensor assembly must indicate low light conditions for the interior lamps to operate.

  1. Observe the courtesy lamps.
  2. Turn the courtesy lamp switch ON and OFF.
  3. Open and close all of the doors.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  5. Turn OFF the ignition.

Do the courtesy lamps operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Close all doors.
  4. With a scan tool, observe all the Door Jamb Sw. inputs in the driver door module (DDM) Inputs data list.

Does the scan tool display ON for any of the Door Jamb Sw. inputs?

Go to Step 5

  1. Position the interior lamp switch to OFF.
  2. With a scan tool, observe the Interior Lamp Switch parameter in the instrument panel module (IPM) with CJ2 or climate control panel (CCP) with C67 Non-HVAC data list.

Does the scan tool display Door?

Go to Step 7

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the inoperative door latch switch.
  3. Turn on the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Does the scan tool display On?

Go to Step 14

  1. Disconnect the headlamp switch.
  2. With a scan tool, observe the Interior Lamp Switch parameter.

Does the scan tool display Door?

Go to Step 11

Test the courtesy lamp control circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 20

Test the courtesy lamp switch on signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the door open switch signal circuit of the inoperative door lock actuator for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the inoperative door module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the fog lamp switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the rear integration module (RIM). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the IPM with CJ2 or the HVAC control module (CCP) with C67. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the inoperative door lock actuator. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the inoperative door lock actuator. Refer to Front Side Door Latch Replacement or Rear Side Door Latch Replacement in Doors.

Replace fog lamp switch. Refer to Fog Lamp Switch Replacement .

Important:: After replacement perform the setup procedure for the RIM. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.

Replace the RIM. Refer to Rear Integration Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Important:: After replacement perform the setup procedure for the IPM. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.

Replace the IPM with CJ2 or HVAC control module (CCP) with C67. Refer to Instrument Panel Module Replacement in Body Control System or HVAC Control Module Replacement in HVAC Systems - Manual.
