Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the power steering gear heat shield. Refer to Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement in Power Steering System.
  3. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the rack and pinion and hang from the exhaust pipe. Refer to Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement in Power Steering System.
  4. Remove the power steering return hose from the rack and pinion and hang from the exhaust pipe. Refer to Power Steering Return Hose Replacement in Power Steering System.

  6. Support the transaxle with a transaxle support stand.

  7. Object Number: 154973  Size: SH
  8. Remove nuts (1) from the mount bracket.
  9. Remove the lower bolts and nut from the mount

  10. Object Number: 667200  Size: SH
  11. Remove the 3 retaining bolts from the mount bracket (1).
  12. Remove the mount and the mount bracket from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the mount and the mount bracket onto the vehicle and position in place.
  2. Apply thread lock compound GM P/N 12345493 or equivalent, to the rear transmission bracket bolts.
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 667200  Size: SH
  4. Install the retaining bolts to the mount bracket (1).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the retaining bolts to 63 N·m (46 lb ft).

  6. Install the transmission mount lower bolts and nut onto the mount.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the mount bolts and nut to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  8. Install the transmission mount upper nuts (1) onto the mount.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the mount nuts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  10. Remove the transaxle support stand.
  11. Install the power steering return hose onto the rack and pinion. Refer to Power Steering Return Hose Replacement in Power Steering System.
  12. Install the power steering pressure hose onto the rack and pinion. Refer to Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement in Power Steering System.
  13. Install the power steering gear heat shield. Refer to Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement in Power Steering System.
  14. Lower the vehicle.
