1. Remove the valve rocker arm covers. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement .

Important: Reinstalled the rocker arms and pushrods in the same locations from which they were removed.

2. Remove the valve rocker arm bolts (2).
3. Remove the valve rocker arms (1).



4. Remove the valve rocker arm retainer (1).



5. Remove the pushrods (1).

Tools Required

J 36660-A Torque Angle Meter

Important: When installing valve rocker arms and pushrods, coat the bearing surfaces with prelube GM P/N 12345501 or equivalent. Install these components in the locations from which they were removed.

1. Install the pushrods (1).



2. Install the valve rocker arm retainer (1).



3. Install the valve rocker arms (1).
4. Apply thread lock adhesive GM P/N 12345493 or equivalent to the rocker arm bolt threads before installing.
5. Install the valve rocker arm bolts (2).

Tighten
Tighten the valve rocker arm bolts to 15 N·m (11 lb ft). Use the J 36660-A in order to torque the bolts an additional 90 degrees.

6. Install the valve rocker arm covers. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement .
