Removal Procedure

Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:

   • Air bag deployment
   • Personal injury
   • Unnecessary SIR system repairs
In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
   • Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring.
   • If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
  2. Remove the front seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket.
  3. Remove the front seat back trim cover. Refer to Front Seat Back Cushion Cover and Cushion Pad Replacement.

  4. Object Number: 1959099  Size: SH
  5. Remove the module wiring harness (1),  (2),  (3) and  (4)  from the side of seat frame.

  6. Object Number: 1959101  Size: SH
  7. Remove the 2 bracket retaining nuts (1) holding the module (2) to the seat frame.

  8. Object Number: 1995408  Size: SH
  9. Remove the module wiring harness (1) from under the seat frame.
  10. Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required retention period. Refer to Inflator Module Handling and Scrapping.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install a new inflatable restraint side impact module to the seat frame.

  2. Object Number: 1959101  Size: SH
  3. Install the module (2) to the seat frame and install the 2 retaining nuts (1).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  5. Install the module wiring harness (1),  (2),  (3) and  (4)  to the seat.

  6. Object Number: 1995408  Size: SH
  7. Install the module wiring harness (1) through the underside of the seat frame.
  8. Install the front seat back trim cover, refer to Front Seat Back Cushion Cover and Cushion Pad Replacement.
  9. Install the front seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket.
  10. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
