Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- Remove the park brake adjustment access hole plug (1) from the brake disc (2).
- Rotate the park brake adjuster nut (1) until all park brake shoe adjustment has been removed.
- Remove the rear brake caliper and brake disc. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement.
- Remove the wheel bearing and hub assembly. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement.
- Remove the park brake shoe retaining spring (1).
- Detach the park brake shoe (1) from the actuator assembly (2).
- Remove the park brake shoe (1).

Warning: Refer to Brake Dust Warning in the Preface section.
Danger: To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.
Note: Detach the park brake shoe (1) from the actuator assembly (2) by grasping the park brake shoe assembly (1) and pushing upwards.
Installation Procedure
- Attach the park brake shoe assembly (1) to the actuator assembly (2).
- Install the parking brake shoe retaining spring (1).
- Install the wheel bearing and hub assembly. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement.
- Install the rear brake disc and rear brake caliper. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement.
- Adjust the park brake. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment.
- Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- Lower the vehicle.
