Did you perform the Radio/Audio System Check?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Disconnect the radio connector.
  3. Connect J 39200 from the radio connector cavity 10 (Pontiac) or cavity  F1 (Buick/Oldsmobile) to ground.
  4. Measure the voltage.

Does the multimeter read the approximate battery voltage?

  1. Connect J 39200 from the radio connector cavity 10 to cavity 5 (Pontiac) or from cavity F1 to cavity E16 (Buick/Oldsmobile).
  2. Measure the voltage.

Does the multimeter read the approximate battery voltage?

  1. Inspect for an open or poor connection in CKT 1733 wire between the junction block and the radio.
  2. If the wire is OK, replace the junction block.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Connect J 39200 from the radio connector cavity 9 to cavity 5 (Pontiac) or from cavity F5 to cavity E16 (Buick/Oldsmobile).
  2. Measure the voltage.

Does the multimeter read the approximate battery voltage?

  1. Inspect for a poor connection or an open in CKT 350.
  2. If the wire is OK, remove the radio for repair.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Inspect the radio connector for terminals shorted together.
  2. If the terminals are OK, remove the radio for repair.

  1. Inspect for a poor connection or an open in CKT 43.
  2. If the wire is OK, remove the radio for repair.
