Did you perform the Steering Wheel Control System Check?

  1. Disable the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  2. Disconnect the inflator module from the steering wheel. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in SIR.
  3. Turn the parklamps on.
  4. Use the test light in order to probe the connector between the steering wheel controls connector terminal B and ground.

Did the test light illuminate?

  1. Disconnect the steering wheel controls.
  2. Use the J 39200 in order to measure the resistance in CKT 8 between the steering wheel controls connector terminal B and terminal D.

Repair the open circuit condition in CKT 8 . Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Inspect for an open condition in the steering wheel controls harness in the following circuits:
  2. • CKT 8
    • CKT 1450
  3. If there is no open condition in the circuits, replace the bulbs.

Repair the open circuit condition in CKT 1450. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
