Exhaust Crossover Pipe Replacement 3.8L

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement .
  2. Remove the throttle body air intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.8L.

  3. Object Number: 153575  Size: SH
  4. Remove the exhaust crossover heat shield nuts.
  5. Remove the exhaust crossover heat shield.

  6. Object Number: 153576  Size: MH
  7. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe bolts and studs.
  8. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe.
  9. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe seal.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 153576  Size: MH
  1. Install the exhaust crossover pipe seal to the exhaust crossover pipe at the right exhaust manifold connection.
  2. Install the exhaust crossover pipe.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the exhaust crossover pipe bolts and studs.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust crossover pipe bolts and studs to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  6. Install the exhaust crossover heat shield.
  7. Install the exhaust crossover heat shield nuts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust crossover heat shield nuts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  9. Install the throttle body air intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.8L.
  10. Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement .

Exhaust Crossover Pipe Replacement 3.1L

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the throttle body air intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.1L.

  2. Object Number: 190524  Size: SH
  3. Remove the exhaust crossover heat shield bolts.
  4. Remove the exhaust crossover heat shield.

  5. Object Number: 190525  Size: SH
  6. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe bolts.
  7. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the exhaust crossover pipe.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.   3. Install the exhaust crossover pipe bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust crossover pipe bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the exhaust crossover heat shield.
  6. Install the exhaust crossover heat shield bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust crossover heat shield bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  8. Install the throttle body air intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.1L.
