Schematic Reference: Retained Accessory Power (RAP) Schematics

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Retained Accessory Power?

Go to Step 2

  1. Close all vehicle doors
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Turn OFF the ignition.
  4. Attempt to operate the following items:
  5. • The radio
    • The power windows
    • The power sunroof, if equipped

Do the listed items operate?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the RAP relay.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit of the RAP relay and the battery positive voltage circuit of the RAP relay.
  4. Close all vehicle doors.
  5. Turn the ignition switch ON and OFF.

Does the test lamp turn ON and OFF with each ignition switch cycle?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 4

Does the test lamp remain illuminated for 10 minutes after each ignition switch OFF?

Go to Step 5

Inspect for poor connections at the RAP relay. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 8

Go to Step 6

Replace the RAP relay.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 8

Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 8

  1. Close all vehicle doors
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Turn OFF the ignition.
  4. Attempt to operate the following items:
  5. • The radio
    • The power windows
    • The power sunroof, if equipped

Do the listed items operate?

System OK
