Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 188282 Size: SH
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove the brake drum. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement .
  4. Remove the brake shoes. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement .
  5. Remove the wheel cylinder. Refer to Wheel Cylinder Replacement .
  6. Remove the parking brake cable from the backing plate.
  7. Remove the hub and bearing assembly. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement in Rear Suspension.
  8. Remove the backing plate (2).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 188282 Size: SH
  1. Install the backing plate (2).
  2. Install the hub and bearing assembly. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement in Rear Suspension.
  3. Install the parking brake cable to the backing plate.
  4. Install the wheel cylinder. Refer to Wheel Cylinder Replacement .
  5. Install the brake shoes. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement .
  6. Adjust the rear brake assembly. Refer to Drum Brake Adjustment .
  7. Install the brake drum. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement .
  8. Bleed the brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding in Hydraulic Brakes.
  9. Adjust the park brake system. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment in Park Brake.
  10. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
