J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the front fascia extensions, if equipped. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Extension Replacement in Bumpers.

  2. Object Number: 1465942  Size: SH
  3. Remove the screws (4) and separate the fender liner from the front fascia.
  4. Remove the bolts (1) from the top of the front fascia.
  5. Remove the screws (3) that separate the front fascia from the fender.
  6. Remove the push-in retainers (2) from the bumper fascia using J 38778 .
  7. Disconnect the fog lamp electrical connectors.
  8. Remove the fascia from the vehicle.
  9. Remove the fog lamps. Refer to Front Fog Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  10. Remove the grilles from the fascia. Refer to Fascia Grille Replacement .
  11. Remove the fascia inserts. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Insert Replacement .

  12. Object Number: 820906  Size: SH
  13. Remove the 10 screws from the upper and lower fascias, if equipped with a 2-piece fascia.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 820906  Size: SH
  1. Assemble the upper and lower fascias with the 10 screws, if equipped with 2-piece fascia.
  2. Install the fascia inserts. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Insert Replacement .
  3. Install the grilles. Refer to Fascia Grille Replacement .
  4. Install the fog lamps. Refer to Front Fog Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  5. Position the fascia to the vehicle.
  6. Connect the fog lamp electrical connectors.

  8. Install the push-in retainers (2) to the front fascia.
  9. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  10. Install the bolts (1) to the front fascia.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the fascia bolts to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  12. Install the screws (3) that connect the front fascia to the fender.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the fascia to fender screws to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  14. Install the screws (4) that connect the front fascia to the fender liners.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the fascia to fender liner screws to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  16. Install the front fascia extensions, if removed. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Extension Replacement in Bumpers.
