Removal Procedure
- Remove the brake shoes. Refer to
Brake Shoe Replacement
.
- Use brake parts cleaner, GM P/N 12346139, or equivalent, in order to clean the wheel cylinder and the brake pipe.
- Place a container below the backing plate in order to catch the brake fluid.
- Remove the brake pipe (1) from the back of the wheel cylinder.
- Remove the cap from the bleeder valve.
- Remove the bleeder valve.
- Remove the 2 bolts and the wheel cylinder (6).
Installation Procedure
- Install the wheel cylinder (6) to the backing plate.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the 2 bolts in order to retain the wheel cylinder to the backing plate.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (88.5 lb in).
- Install the brake pipe fitting to the wheel cylinder.
Tighten
Tighten the brake pipe fitting to 15 N·m (11.1 lb ft).
- Install the bleeder valve.
- Install the brake shoes. Refer to

.
- Bleed the brakes and tighten the bleeder valve. Refer to
Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding
.
- Install the cap to the bleeder valve.
