Removal Procedure
- Remove the oxygen sensors. Refer to the following procedures:
- Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the floor panel brace.
- Remove
the following components from the exhaust manifold:
- Remove the following components from the front pipe to the Three Way Catalytic
Converter (TWC) exhaust pipe:
- Remove the front pipe from the front pipe hanger (2).
- Remove the front pipe from the vehicle.
- Clean the gasket and seal the mating surfaces.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install
the front pipe to the vehicle.
- Install the front pipe to the front pipe hanger (2).
- Install the following components to the front pipe to the Three Way Catalytic
Converter (TWC) exhaust pipe:
Tighten
Tighten the front pipe-to-Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) exhaust pipe bolts
to 43 N·m (32 lb ft).
- Install the following components to the exhaust manifold:
Tighten
Tighten the front pipe-to-exhaust manifold bolts to 43 N·m (32 lb ft).
- Install the floor panel brace.
Tighten
Tighten the front pipe floor brace nuts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
- Install the oxygen sensors. Refer to the following procedures:
- Lower the vehicle.
