Wheel Bearing Remover and Installer
Removal Procedure
- Remove the steering knuckle from the vehicle. Refer to
Steering Knuckle Replacement
.
- Use snap ring pliers in order to remove the wheel bearing retainer (1).
- Place the outboard side of the knuckle assembly on a press split plate.
- Place a bearing driver collar on the inboard end of the hub (6).
- Use a press in order to remove the hub from the wheel bearing (11).
Press from the inboard side of the hub toward the outboard side of the hub.
- Remove the 3 bolts (4,5,7) and the brake shield (3) from the knuckle.
- From the
CH-48023
kit, place the CH-48023-2 (2) on a press support plate.
- Place the inboard side of the knuckle on the CH-48023-2.
- Place the CH-48023-1 (1) on the outside outer race of the bearing.
- Use a press in order to remove the bearing from the knuckle.
Press from the outboard side of the bearing toward the inboard side of the knuckle.
Installation Procedure
- Place the outboard side of the knuckle on a press support plate.
- Place the wheel bearing (2) on the inboard side of the knuckle.
- Place the CH-48023-1 (1) on the bearing.
- Use a press in order to install the bearing into the knuckle.
Press from the inboard side of the bearing toward the outboard side of the knuckle.
- Install the brake shield (3) to the knuckle (2).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the 3 bolts (4,5,7) that retain the brake shield to the knuckle.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 8.3 N·m (73.46 lb in).
- Place the CH-48023-2 (3) on a press support plate.
- Place the hub (2) on the CH-48023-2.
- Place the knuckle and bearing assembly on the hub.
- Place the CH-48023-1 (1) on the bearing.
- Use a press in order to install the hub to the bearing.
Press from the inboard side of the bearing toward the outboard side of the hub.
- Use snap ring pliers in order to install the wheel bearing retainer.
- Install the steering knuckle to the vehicle. Refer to
Steering Knuckle Replacement
