DTC Descriptor

DTC C2194: Engine Speed Signal Performance

Circuit/System Description

The tire pressure control module receives a engine speed signal from the IPC.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The ignition is ON.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

Engine speed signal circuit malfunction.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The Tire Pressure Warning Light is illuminated.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

Engine speed is greater than 1000 RPM for 3 seconds.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Disconnect the harness connector at the Tire Pressure Control Module.
  2. Disconnect the harness connector at the Engine Control Module.
  3. Test for less than 1 ohm of resistance between the engine speed signal circuit terminal 4 and terminal 5.
  4. If greater than the specified value, test the engine speed signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
  5. Test for infinite resistance between the engine speed signal circuit terminal 4 and ground.
  6. If not the specified value, test engine speed signal circuit for a short to ground, if circuit tests normal replace the tire pressure control module.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
