SA9805E /KM-796-A Fuel Line Separator

Removal Procedure

    Note: 

       • In the presence of fuel vapors or escaping fuel - observe safety regulations and national legislation. Store drained fuel in a suitable, sealable container.
       • The vehicle fuel system is designed in petrol engines as a return-free fuel system.

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning in the Preface section.

  3. Disconnect the battery.
  4. • Disconnect the ground clamp from the negative terminal.
    • Loosen the nut.

  5. Disconnect the front vent line (1) from tank vent valve (2).
  6. Remove the front frame. Refer to Front Frame Replacement.
  7. Remove the 2 fuel line brackets (4) from the underbody.
  8. • Remove the 2 bolts.
    • Remove the vent pipe (2).
  9. Detail vent line (2) to quick-release fitting (3) using SA9805E /KM-796-A.

  10. Object Number: 1998457  Size: SH
  11. Remove the vent line from 4 dash brackets (1) and remove.

Installation Procedure

  1. Insert the vent line and install into the 4 dash brackets.
  2. Attach the vent line to the central vent pipe.
  3. Connect the quick-release fitting. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service.

    Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  4. Install the 2 fuel line brackets to the underbody.
  5. Install the fuel line.

    Tighten
    Tighten the 2 fuel line bracket bolts to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  6. Install the front frame. Refer to Front Frame Replacement.
  7. Install the vent line to the tank vent valve.
  8. Connect the battery.
  9. Connect the ground clamp to the negative terminal.

    Tighten
    Tighten the ground clamp nut to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  10. For programming procedures, refer to Control Module References.
  11. Close the hood.
