Removal Procedure
- Remove the front wheel bearing and hub. Refer to
Front Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement.
- Disconnect the lower ball joint and separate the steering knuckle from the lower control arm. Refer to
Lower Control Arm Replacement.
- Disconnect the outer tie rod end from the steering knuckle. Refer to
Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement.
- Remove the steering knuckle from the spring strut support tube.
• | Remove the 2 bolts (1) from the spring strut support tube. |
• | Remove the steering knuckle. |
Installation Procedure
Note: Tightening to torque does not take place until camber has been adjusted.
- Install the steering knuckle to the spring strut support tube.
• | Install the 2 new nuts. |
- Connect the lower ball joint to the steering knuckle. Refer to
Lower Control Arm Replacement.
- Attach the outer tie rod end to the steering knuckle. Refer to
Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement.
- Install the front wheel bearing and hub. Refer to
Front Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement.
- Adjust the camber. Refer to
Front Camber Adjustment.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Tighten the 2 screwed joint, spring strut support tube to the steering knuckle, in 3 stages.
Tighten
- Tighten the 2 spring strut support tube to steering knuckle bolted connections to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
- Tighten the 2 new spring strut support tube to steering knuckle screwed joint to 85 N·m (62 lb ft).
- Tighten the 2 new spring strut support tube to steering knuckle screw connection an additional 75 degrees plus 15 degrees.
