Keystone Clamp Pliers
Removal Procedure
- Remove the front wheel.
- If fitted, remove the engine compartment cover.
- Remove the tie rod end. Refer to
Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement.
- Remove the retaining clamp/retaining straps (1, 2).
- Remove the boot (3) from the tie rod.
Installation Procedure
Note: Ensure that the boot sits in the grooves (1, 2) of the tie rod and the steering gear.
- Pull the boot over the tie rod and slide onto the steering gear.
Lubricate the groove (1) with grease from the bellows part kit.
- Install the boot to the steering gear with new retaining clamp and
KM-J-22610
(3).
Note: Ensure that the boot sits in the grooves of the tie rod.
- Install the boot with the new retaining strap (4) to the tie rod.
- Install the tie rod end. Refer to
Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement.
- If fitted: Install the lower engine compartment cover.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the front wheel.
Tighten
Tighten to 110 N·m (81 lb ft).
- Inspect the toe-in, adjust if necessary. Refer to
Wheel Alignment - Steering Wheel Angle and/or Front Toe Adjustment.
